The Bride with White Hair
11. 2021
Inspired by the Chinese movie The Bride with White Hair, the forbidden love story of a martial arts knight and a mysterious woman from a rival cult join forces in Ming Dynasty China, I used tissue paper and yarns as the main materials to simulate the hair textures and created this look. White hair in this movie is a symbol of betrayal and desperation. It also reflects the transformation of the main female character, the trust she gives and takes back. Tissue paper might be very fragile and soft, however when I braided them together, tied up with yarns it holds a lot of strength. Just like how the girl in the movie might be vacillated at first but when the guy hold the sword against her after all the promises he made, the love broke, and all the heartbreak turns into power pushed the girl to stand back up.
